RIM BlackBerry Playbook, The First Tablet Certified by The U.S. Government

BlackBerry playbook, produced by Research in Motion (RIM), is the first tablet PC ever to be certified by the U.S. government.

The 7-inch screen tablet, has been certified Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2 and because it can be used by federal agencies of the U.S. government.

This certification is issued by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and is required by the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002.

Also this week playbook BlackBerry device has been declared as the best ever ("Best in Show") and the category of mobile devices ("Best in FOSE") at FOSE 2011, the largest conference in the U.S. Federal Information Technology , held in Washington DC.


"This certification demonstrates our continued commitment to meet the needs of organizations for which security is a fundamental requirement. It also allows staff to make purchases of U.S. government in peace, certain that the playbook meets the requirements of strict IT policies on the protection of sensitive data, "said Scott Totzke, Vice President, RIM BlackBerry Security.

BlackBerry playbook - The main features of the model are the screen 7-inch multi-touch capacitive, the internal memory available to the user (16, 32 or 64 GB), Wi-Fi and AGPS, and 3G HSPA network. Playbook also has a dual core processor with 1 GB of RAM, can be connected with other BlackBerry devices, and records HD video.
