Barnes & Noble Nook 2Barnes & Noble has introduced its new model of e-book reader yesterday, which has always called Nook. Among the features are obviously an e-ink screen, a better battery and a touchscreen display, all at a price of just $ 139.

For a long time their eBook readers have not got much foot on the market. The lack of options and competition, the prices of the devices rather high compared to what they offer and especially the lack of standardization of  formats has much hindered the spread of this type of device.

However in 2010 the situation changed, with many large manufacturers such as Sony, took to the field with their own proposals, to support the historical ones such as Amazon's Kindle and the Nook Barnes & Noble.
The new Nook seems to be very interesting. First, the display, which is the most important component of an eReader. The new Nook shows a 6-inch panel with a resolution of 800 x 600 pixels, always of course but e-ink, thanks to technology Pearl, now offers a contrast to 50% higher than the first generation.

Also now the new Nook has a multitouch screen more compact and thinner, and easier to use and completely devoid of buttons, since the first version. For the rest there are 2 GB of flash memory, a MicroSD card slot so you can further expand its storage capacity and a form 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi to connect to the Internet and thus more easily buy and download eBooks Tracks. According to the manufacturer then the new battery enables the Nook to have an estimated number of months, obviously with the WiFi module off.

Also support the different formats has been expanded and now the new Nook to read ePub eBook formats, PDF, JPG, GIF, BMP and PNG. For an official price higher just $ 20 since the first version ($ 139 against 119) the new B & N Nook presents therefore lighter than the 35% thinner than the 6% and nearly 3 inches shorter, in addition to all the news we have just seen.

Within just 18 months, from when he debuted the first version, Barnes & Noble has won as much as 25% of the total market for ebook readers. The new model is already available in advance and will be available officially June 10, 2011.
