Sony Ericsson W8: first Walkman with Android announced

If a few weeks ago there was talk of a new Sony Ericsson Walkman features known operating system Android, according to images broadcast as W15, now the Japan-Sweden joint venture has announced its first smartphone equipped with the famous musical range of the operating system sponsored by Google, but called W8.

According to the specifications revealed, it seems the device which had been rumored: the Sony Ericsson W8 is
a Quadband GSM compatible networks with HSPA (Maximum download speed of 7.2 Mbps and upload speed of 2 Mbps). Not lack of support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connectivity with A2DP and USB 2.0.

The display is a 3-inch capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and over 16 million displayable colors. The camera is equipped with a 3.2 Megapixel digital zoom, and geotagging capabilities for video recording.

In addition, The Sony Ericsson W8 is provided an integrated FM radio with RDS, accelerometer, a 3.5 mm input jack for headphones, the well-known player TrackID, GPS chip and memory expansion slot compatible with microSD / microSDHC, up to a maximum of 32 GB



The internal memory is 128 MB. The W8 is a processor chip to 600 MHz, while the installed version of Android is the 2.1 Eclair, hopefully upgradeable to at least Froyo. Autonomy (in 3G networks) ranges from over 4 ½ hours in use and up to 476 hours on standby. Excellent Music playback time: even the nearly 24 hours.

The Sony Ericsson W8 will be marketed in three different colors, very young and beautiful to see, Orange, Blue and Red, on yet to be determined. The sales package will also MH410 headset.
