NEC officially unveiled in Japan the new NEC LaVie Touch, a tablet based on Intel Atom Z670, 1.5 GHz frequency that will be distributed starting next Oct. 6. This device, clean design and simple, is characterized by rounded corners and just a black color. LaVie Touch is actually part of a group of devices, including two laptops and two new All-in-one systems, which the manufacturer intends to launch in the autumn and winter.
Based on the operating system Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, the new NEC LaVie Touch uses an integrated graphics controller and has a slot for SDHC. Among other features, there is a Bluetooth 2.1 module, a WiFi module to take advantage of wireless connections, a 1.3 megapixel front camera, two USB 2.0 ports and one HDMI output. NEC LaVie Touch is powered by a lithium-ion battery suitable. According to our data, for every single charge, this solution allows a more than 10 hours.
At present, NEC LaVie Touch will be initially distributed only in Japan. Will be more accessories available, including a keyboard, a mouse and a docking station with stand and DVD recorder. It is unclear whether the tablet will then be launched on other international markets and at what price.
